Camping Trip with Bailey and Emily

This weekend Conner and I went camping with Evin and Jamie Ehhreich with Emily, plus Amberly and Bailey Bohall. Emily and Bailey are Conner's best friends, and he has missed them terribly since they went on to Kindergarten. In the afternoon Ben and Dustin were with us along with Mollee and Owen. All the kids squealed and played on the playground's big swings, slide, and teeter totter. Around dinner time they all left and Amberly and I shared a tent. All evening Emily, Conner, and Bailey said as many bad words as they could: poopoo, peepee, buttcrack, toilet, fart, and other such naughty things! We went on a late night walk with flashlights and an LED lantern, ate s'mores and candy, hot dogs, chips, and we even had a nice breakfast the next morning. It was pretty cold in the night, yet Conner refused to sleep in the sleeping bag with me. (Since when does he NOT want to sleep literally on top of me?!!!??!) Oh yeah, Bailey was in the tent with us and he needed to prove he's a big boy.... hehehe. And, so it begins.... Mom is traded out for a girl's approval. Hmmf!

Late in the night we all woke up to some weird, and very loud, bangs. Over and over again. At first I thought someone was banging the slide since it sounded so close, but we soon realized it was the site across the road from us. The two weirdo guys that had been creepy all night with their stares and actions were over there trying to fix their back fender and tail gate. Earlier in the day these guys kept pulling their aluminum boat without a trailer on the road, plus one of them cussed out a girl on the phone. They just looked mean and creepy, and they made us all uncomfortable. They decided to work on their vehicle from midnight - 1am with some sort of hammer. They banged so loudly. People in the other tents were yelling, but they continued. It was creepy the way they were working so quickly. I think they must've hit something earlier that night and they were trying to fix it to get outta there as quickly as possible. They looked rough and had been drinking since they arrived at 4pm. When they finally got the old Bronco fixed, they loaded up that aluminum boat in the back, added some wood and gasoline to the fire which made it flare up really high, and then left. Security arrived about fifteen minutes later, and a bunch of us walked over to see what was in the fire, but we couldn't tell what it was. A couple of unidentifiable plastic things were burning outside the ring on the ground. There wasn't really much to do or talk about, so we all returned to our tents, but we were wide awake. Amberly and I talked at least two hours longer. The kids never woke up to the repeated beatings. I don't see how kids sleep through stuff like that, but I'm glad they did so they didn't get scared.

We played more Sunday morning, went on another walk, and Bailey caught her first fish! It was a really nice-sized bluegill. After loading up we went home, took showers and naps, and were lazy the rest of the day.
