More vomiting?!?

The doctor called last week and reported that my test reports came back "borderline" for the one-hour glucose test, so I had to come in the next day and take a three-hour glucose test to confirm that I haven't developed gestational diabetes. I had to fast 12 hours before the test, and when I arrived at the doctor's office at 8am they drew blood for testing and then had me drink a small bottle of sugary liquid. This bottle was twice as sugary as the one hour test, but it was the same amount of liquid. The only flavor they had available this time was cola, and it did NOT taste like cola. It was disgusting, but I chugged it like a champ and returned the bottle to the nurse. They had orange flavor for the one-hour test mixture, and it tasted like a knock-off version of Gatorade or Powerade - nothing bad at all. Anyway, I drank the syrupy, supposedly cola-flavored fluid and returned to the lobby to wait. The nurse explained that once an hour (for three hours) they planned to draw blood for testing, so I was free to read and sit in the front lobby.

The first hour passed with no hiccups, and I actually ran into a friend and was able to catch up with her for fifteen minutes. The nurse then called me back to the lab, drew blood, and sent me back in the lobby for hour number two. This hour didn't pass as smoothly... about half an hour into this section I started to feel hot and nauseous. I looked around for a waist basket **just in case** I would throw up, but there was nothing. I realized time was dwindling down when I started feeling light-headed, and then I started salivating much more than normal. I knew I would vomit in mere seconds, and I was mortified that I had nowhere to go. I scurried to the front desk and asked one of the nurses if I could go to the back because I felt nauseous. She escorted me back, and on the way I started to black out! The nurse held on to me as I faded in and out for just a few seconds, and then she proceeded to help me on a bed. About five seconds later, as I was situating my half-alert self on the bed the vomit arrived, but I didn't just throw up. It projected out of my mouth all over the floor, myself, and my gardening books! I felt soooo much better afterward. The nurses were laughing at me because I said "I'm so sorry" at least 25 times. It was mortifying to say the least!

The doctor vthen isited me for a couple minutes said they'll use the fasting blood and one hour blood to test for the diabetes, and if they come back somewhat normal they'll let me go on as normal. Otherwise, I'll have to come back in and take the test again! ugh! Do they think I'll be able to actually hold down the liquid the next time?? Yeah right!

Anyway, on a good note - I am 30 weeks along (as of tomorrow) and we're so excited to see baby Conner on the ultrasound this Thursday. Ben and I are getting more and more anxious to meet the little man. He rolls and kicks my belly all the time. Ben can't believe how hard he kicks me. It's so fun to experience all of this together. I'll be sure to post u/s pictures up for everyone to see. Also, I'll ask Ben to take some more pictures of my belly sometime this week. It's not a bump anymore.... :)
